Never a disappointment! and always beautiful. What is the palmate leaved plant in the fifth picture growing in the stock tank,,,,Schefflera? How do you keep the maintenance all done, Jeanne ?
Well good morning Jeff. A new day today! You are correct on the schefflera. It has made it through a tough wet and cold winter. I was very surprised. Doing the maintenance has become to much for me now. My husband mowes most of the areas and i just got me a weedeater that i can use to trim up the beds. It is like working full time here but i enjoy it. Iam hoping to hire out some of the work next year. My body dosent seem to want to go along with what i want to do now. Grrr...Hope your summer has been good and full of plants!

Jeanne, you truly live in the Garden of Eden and are a master gardener in the natural sense of the name. Such beauty is breathtaking and all so masterfully combined and maintained. And that doesn't touch your photography skills. As it is raining here in Georgia, I am delighted to just sip multiple cups of coffee and slowly go thru each photo (yesterday's and today's) as long as I want. What a great way to spend a morning! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Sonya, I thought i would never say this but... I sure wouldnt mind having some of that rain you are talking about! We have broken the record here with the most sunny days in a row. Its been nice but i have to water all the time. Thank you for the nice complements! And have a great day!
Words almost fail me Jeanne, so many types of perennials, shrubs, trees and more. All grown so beautifully. Love your color combinations, the different textures mixed in and just the balance of it all. Your PNW weather works so well for you as the pictures show us. Thanks again for letting us into your lovely gardens.
Hi Pat! So glad you enjoyed the tour! Haha.. but that is what it is really. Only i get to control what you see. There are areas unfinished and full of weeds. This year the weather has been so so nice but the weeds seem to be growing well with it too. Hope you are enjoying your summer!
Blown away, Jeanne! Amazing you can manage such a lovely and extensive garden, and have it look so refined. I'm in awe. Ukigumo in pic 8?...if so that has to be the whitest I've ever seen in the leaves...swooning. I'd be thrilled to get half that in mine. Just curious - how much sun does does it get and at what times during the day? Thanks for the stroll through the garden.

Hi David... yes this is a Ukigumo, "floating clouds" maple. It is quite nice and it loves where it is. It gets the morning and early afternoon sun until about one pm. The fir trees behind shelter it from the strong afternoon/evening sun. Hope this helps! Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Jeanne, your garden is fantastic. The sarracenia are so beautiful! How much water do you keep them in? I know you said you weed a lot, but, wow- perfection!
Hi Rhonda, Arent they a swell plant! I love these! These are in a tub of peatmoss which i keep quite soggy. The tub they are in is sitting in a boat that i turned into a "Pond". But the spring seems to be the best for them as far as looking nice, bright and happy. Maybe there are more bugs available!
Well, Jeanne, with this set of pictures, you're batting 1000 (ha, is that even possible in baseball...so much for my sports' knowledge). But, what I do know, for sure, is that you are a gardener par excellence... a gardener extraordinaire...your garden is truly exceptional. One of the things that jumps out to me is how easily you juggle bold and colorful and then, with equal finesse, present wonderful examples of quiet and subtle texture combinations. I am so glad that you thrive on the care and nurturing of your beautiful piece of paradise that you and your husband have created.
Your talent behind the camera lens is quite special also. In the second from the last photo, the way you brought those red monarda to life made me feel like I was in a scene from a Dr. Seuss book. Do you happen to recall what variety that one is? and how does it do with mildew on the leaves?
Hi Micheale! You are so generous with your words. I love it! Iam sorry but i do not know the variety of this monarda. Its quite pretty and it spreads!!! I was going to take it out but the humming birds love them so. I did find out that their leaves make the tea "Bergmont". I love that flavor so iam currently drying some of the leaves and we will see. I havent had any trouble with mildew yet. I hear that it is a problem with these beauties. Well our summer is over half way now and the days are getting shorter. When August comes it seems the mornings are foggy and it cools down quite fast in the evenings.. Iam going to miss summer so. But enjoy the remainder of your summer! Oh, the pink meuhly grass is growing nicely. The seeds started well! Thanks!

Hi Diane, The orange flower is a rose, "David Austins Crown Princess Margurete". It is a wonderful rose for sure.You are correct on the hops. They are so great but sure likes to spread. So glad you enjoyed the tour this morning!

WOW! There are some bold color and texture combinations here. I don't recall seeing a photo of your great galvanized collage of containers: love them. That orange rose with the violet clematis is an out-of-this-world color combo and the feathery Japanese fern with the feathery maple look so great together. So many ideas here worth emulating. Stunning, as always, Jeanne!

Good morning, Jeanne. Just got back last night after driving a 20 foot rental truck from Atlanta (moving my daughter back to Harrisburg). She just got her Masters in Speech Language Pathology and will be starting her 1st real job in a few weeks.
Anyway, just relaxing this AM before starting to unload the truck. Part 2 is awesome. I fell in love with Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo', and am now looking for a spot to put it (I am sure I will find/create a spot).
The photo with the Aruncus is eye-catching. The blue hosta behind it is awesome. I also love the industrial containers. I will have to try that.

I've thoroughly enjoyed both days! Love the lushness and the color of your garden. It gives me a chuckle on the very first fountain picture, yesterday. In the background the 5 gallon bucket. There is always one close-by for almost all of us!

After yesterday and now today, I find myself regretting the decision my husband and I made years ago to "stay home" in Missouri instead of moving to the Pacific Northwest. (We fell madly in love with the area after vacationing in Port Angeles.) Jeanne, your garden is so lush, so beautiful, and very much appreciated, even from afar.
I love the layers, the color combos, the textures - oh heck - I love it all! Thank you so much for stopping to capture it and share with all of us.
Good morning chelleisdiggin... I can see why you would fall inlove with Port Angles. We love it too and take our harley up there quite a bit. But there is an explosion of people moving there now. So sad. But as they say..thats progress. Iam sure there are a lot of plants you can grow where you are that we cant grow. But you can always visit again! Iam glad you enjoyed the tour and i hope there was found some inspiration for you in your garden!

To me, gardening can be like a living canvas and you have chosen a gorgeous palette of colors to paint with whether you realize it at the time of planting or not. Oh Bonnie! This is exactly how its done with me. No real future plans other than my love for plants and things just comes together and flows. I always said that the plants are like the paint is to a painter. So glad you enjoyed the tour!

So much to love here, Jeanne! The colour contrast of that soft peachy David Austin rose is gorgeous with the violet clematis. Is your Azalea scented? I have a very old one that has stopped blooming -- I think it is in too much shade now -- but it had a heavenly spicy perfume. I love all the textural contrasts of the leaves in the photo of the Darmera peltata with the ferns and hosta, and, again, with the lacy Astilbe and big hosta leaves. The close up shot of the Sarracenia is lovely. Such cool plants! I find myself wishing I could turn the corner in the pictures to see what else you're growing. Thanks for sharing, Jeanne!

Good morning, Jeanne. This is an even bigger WOW than yesterday. You are not only very good at putting together an interesting garden but your photography shows it off beautifully. The combos that Tim mentioned are also my favorites along with the two colorful rhodies and the golden current (?). The monarda shot is a great one, too. Thanks for another day of touring your garden.
Thank you Linda for your comments. Yes that is a golden current in generality. It has these hot pink flowers too which really add a pop.
We have the same one and I love how it lights up the shade garden. So far flowers have been minimal probably due to the rabbits feasting on the new growth.
Lush gorgeousness! Color and texture echoes and contrasts abound! The maple, astilbe, azaleas, etc. are so beautiful. I would love to come visit sometime, if you are open to visitors to your glorious estate! Just breath-taking!

Really great photos, Jeanne! I love having foreground in a photo, it adds so much texture and interest, and you have some beautiful things to get foreground shots of! Thanks for the answers to my questions about yesterday's post; and now for this one, can you tell me which clematis is dancing with the apricot rose? Very lovely. And is the plant in the galvanized tub one of the Dan Hinkley hardy Scheffleras? If so, do you bring it in or is it ok out for the winter? And I get what you said in your comment to Patricia below about controlling the 'tour'... There are so many places in my garden that I HAVEN'T photographed and sent in to GPOD!
