Because it is evergreen, is low maintenance, and has a distinct presence, 'Winter Gem' boxwood is the perfect signature plant for this garden (above). Its tidy, compact form also helps define the lines of the beds (below). Design inspiration for the pergola (above) and archway (bottom photo) came from the triangular peak of the house.
