This plant has dark pink, two-toned flowers that occur in abundance and rise above the foliage on branched stems from August to Octover. It is beautiful in the woodland garden or border and planted in masses, although they can overwhelm other plants and become a nuisance in a bed.

CareMoist, fertile, humusy soil in sun or partial shade. May need support.

PropagationDivide in early spring or after flowering; pot up for a year and replant in spring. Take root cuttings in spring. Sow seed in containers in a cold frame when ripe, but germination may be erratic and lengthy.
