EMURetiree writes: I have grown this plant (got it from Logees) for many years in Michigan. I plant it outdoors and then I take a cutting in early September and root it.
It makes a beautiful house plant in the winter time - very tropical looking.
Outside it needs lots of water (like all impatiens) and all shade, even in Michigan (zone 5b).

cajunbarry writes: I believe that it is an impatiens, Impatiens niamniamensis could be the species. There are a few cultivars of this plant available in the trade including 'Congo Cockatoo' and others. This is a tender plant that should be kept from freezing temps. and would like sheltered, humid shade. Posted: 3:53 pm on July 6th
