Evergreen Mysteries

These two evergreens trees/large shrubs were in my Houston, TX front yard when I bought it. I think they are probably about 35-40 years old. They are beautiful but a mystery! The trunks twist like something out of Big Sur and the trees have cedar-like characteristics. They aren't like anything we have here in Texas. Any ideas of what these two beauties might be?

If they're healthy (ie in no danger of becoming top-heavy and splitting), I would feature them. They look like some similar specimens I saw in a garden in China. Posted: 10:47 pm on August 17th
