Container Garden Photo Challenge --Back Deck Tomato Garden in Containers
comments (0) June 15th, 2009 in gallery
2x7-ft redwood planter boxes are lined with sheet metal and have liner pans beneath them to drain water off the deck. These are my own design. The plastic self-watering container plans can be found online. Both type containers use potting mix, not potting soil, for planting media. And non-hydrated dolomite lime is added to control blossom rot due to calcium deficiency. Tomato fertilizer is added at planting time and as the photos show, there are two different harvest times planned so all the tomatoes do not come in at the same time.
