Can anyone tell me what this is?  We live in southwestern Idaho and this popped up last year.  This year, it has blooms that are very fragrant.

mimikris10 writes: It looks like a Penstemon to me. They are also known as 'Beardtongues', and I'm sure you can see why. Lots of beautiful drought tolerant cultivars here in Northern Utah. Posted: 5:51 pm on June 29th
eglantyne writes: That looks an awful lot like a Penstemon palmeri. Quite tall and very fragrant. I don't believe sage has fragrant flowers, but don't quote me on that. 8-)
