Please excuse the iPhone photo! I stepped outside this morning to see what needed watering and noticed this plant for the first time. I haven't seen it before. Anyone know what it is?

Madtripper writes: It looks like Anemone canadensis. If the leaves are joined right to the stem with no petiole, then it is canadensis. It it has a petiole, then it is most likely sylvestris.

Canadensis seems to spread in the shade and makes smaller plants spaced farther apart. I grow one in full sun and it flowers all summer long, but it is growing in size. In sun it makes a tight clump - one of my favorite plants. Posted: 10:10 pm on June 29th
ycc54 writes: It is Anemone Sylvestris or Snowdrop Anemone. Warning, very invasive! Plant only in an area you don't mind it takes over the entire bed. Once established, it spreads by root and seed. 1 plant will be 101 by next year. Posted: 7:34 pm on June 15th
