Botanical names: Chrysanthemum spp. and cvs., Dendranthema spp. and cvs.
Common name: Mum

Chrysanthemums are a fall-blooming flowering herb. They provide food for butterfly larvae, and herbal tea for people (Chrysanthemum morifolium or Dendranthema grandiflora and Chrysanthemum indicum). People have been growing mums since 15th century. They're photoperiodic, which means they can sense when the days are getting shorter, and they won't bloom during the long days of summer.
