A Kitchen Garden on the White House Lawn
comments (0) March 20th, 2009 in blogs
Yes, it has come to pass, and fittingly, on the first day of spring. This morning, First Lady Michelle Obama, with the help of fifth graders from a local school, will break ground for a 1,100-square-foot kitchen garden on the White House lawn. The garden, a modern version of Eleanor Roosevelt's Depression-era Victory Garden, will feed the Obama family and provide food for formal dinners. It will also serve as an example to the nation that growing your own food is well worth the effort.
