Does this make me a bad gardener?
comments (2) January 8th, 2009 in blogs I'm thrilled that the garden season is on temporary hiatus. OK, thrilled might be too strong of a word...I'm relieved. Truth be told, this past spring/summer/fall kicked my butt. It was entirely my own fault, though. Too many containers to maintain, too many bug issues, and just not enough time in the day to deal with it.
I realize I'm an editor at a gardening magazine. I'm a plantaholic. And most importantly, I genuinely love to garden. But when a colleague here at the office asked if I was dying for if to be spring again, I had to respond with an honest answer: "NO." Then I walked away with a horrified expression plastered to my face.
The winter greens that are shoved in my containers by the front stoop are now encased in ice and snow--and that's just fine with me. I'm exhausted, and I'm not ready to get back into the swing of things just yet.
But I did just receive the new Seed Savers Exchange catalog and had to flip through the pages. There's no harm in looking, right?
