An old bench, a splash of blue paint and some statuary creates a happy little spot for plants and a treat for the eye!
A screen house nestled in the back yard between garden and trees is a lovely spot for afternoon tea or a respite from gardening!
Leo sits on my front deck....hes very big and heavy so stays put!  He needed some eyes, so I painted them in.  Now hes happy and watches over the comings and goings of our household!
This is a small area between our shed and garage that used to house junk, lumber, ladders....you know what I mean!  So my son and I decided to give it life and beauty!  It was so fun and came together wonderfully for very little money!
Three ceramic birds drink from a rusty dish high on a pole.  Just a whimsy for the garden to make it less serious!  Life often gets intense and we to lighten it up with our imagination!

My garden is never "planned" but evolves with time as I come across a lovely plant, intriguing statue or get the urge to dig a small pond in the middle of our yard!  Body aches and pains seem trivial when we're doing something exciting and creative, so keep at it!  As they say, "Make hay while the sun shines!" so that when the time comes we can no longer hoe, dig and plant, we can at least sit back, sip lemonade and delight in our hard work!!  And, of course, pass on our gardens to others inclined to nurture them!  This year I think I'll plant one of the shaggy bark trees featured in Fine Gardening!  My Harry Lauder Walking Stick tree planted last year in honor of my deceased husband now gives me pleasure as it shows its wiggly, twisting branches against the Michigan snow.  Last year I had the urge to use lots of those colorful enameled tea pots and kettles and cups to hold my plants.  What a joy color is to the eye......a relief from too much green!  Dots and dashes of red and blue and aqua in the garden delight me and make me smile!  And don't we all need to smile more!!  Happy gardening!

Silverridge0 writes: Thanks, Gracepete! We not only do our gardening for ourselves, but need to share what we've done! I have this membership from "Slenderform" from 1964 and rarely use it. Now the gardening takes care of exercising, for sure!
Your garden is so alive with all those wonderful plantings! You must spend a great deal of your time out there! It's just beautiful and makes me want to stroll through the lovliness!! Great job! Posted: 3:29 pm on December 27th
gracepete writes: Silverridge0, I'm smiling! Your photos are great. I'm with you. My garden evolves with my whims and obsessions and I never take it too seriously. Gardening is supposed to be fun and yes the aches and pains are worth it. Who needs the gym when you've got a garden?
