A portion of my garden in early October 2008
Angels Trumpet (Brugmansia). I was so pleased when this bloomed. It was a small plug when I stuck it in the ground and I had my doubts.
It only took 11 (yes, eleven) summers to get this border just right. It seemed I could never get it to look, well the way it does now... Im not usually this picky and indecisive. Well, yes I am.
Band of Gold Phormium, Ensete ventricosum Maurellii banana with a smoke bush (Cotinus) between them, trying to grow.
William Baffin rose, six years old. It blooms all summer, is very disease resistent but not fragrant. There is a honeysuckle growing nearby that takes care of that.

These are just random photos taken during the 2008 growing season. Now that things are water-soaked and wind-blown and otherwise pitiful, it's nice to look back and remember that it wasn't just a figment of my imagination.

Thank you to Fine Gardening for setting this up. Fun!
