The winning photo

Photo: Michel Marie Rose

At the beginning of winter, we invited FineGardening.com visitors to post their best winter photos to our 2013 Winter Garden Photo Contest. We got some beautifully icy entries, and had a difficult time selecting the winner. The editors, however, dediced that Michel Marie Rose captured the most compelling photo this time round.

The winning entry- Winter Rose: A lone, frosty rose blossom by Michel Marie Rose.

Michel has won a $100 gift certificate from our sponsor, GardenArtisans.com! I asked Michel to share a little bit about the photo, and this is what she has to say:

When I escape my corporate day job, I grab my camera and head to the great outdoors. My favorite location to shoot is Lake Cliff Garden, at 5-acre tropical garden paradise overlooking Lake Michigan, which has been featured multiple times in Fine Gardening magazine. The Winter Rose was taken last February. I am active in our local camera club, and am currently working on a garden book with Barbara Weirich, the owner of Lake Cliff Garden.

We're glad you captured this stunning image at Lake Cliff Garden, Michel! Take a look at some of the other amazing photographs users uploaded by clicking on the photos below. Thanks to everyone who participated!
