A couple of weeks ago, when I was sick and bombarding you all with photos of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Barbara Harms sent in these photos to add to the mix. I'm just now getting to them, and I have to say, how did I miss these things when I was there?? OK, it could have been the lightning bolts I was dodging. But anyway, Barbara says, "The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are truly a delight. Lots of whimsy and creativity to enjoy. These are shots I took on a visit there in 2010. Living in Houston, Texas, I really enjoyed the cool coastal early fall day in Maine." I'm going back up to Maine this fall, so I will be sure to search for these fun sights when I'm in the garden again--thanks, Barbara!

I dug this boulder out of my lawn in 2006, maybe if I relocate and position it I can use it for a boulder beast too. The darn thing weighs about a ton, my tractor's front loader strained to lift it. But I didn't waste the crater it left, I used it to plant a Redbud Forest Pansey.

thegardenlady writes: Those 'boulder beasts' are actually whales, spouting; they can even do short little spouts and then bigger ones. Imagine whales spouting just off the Maine Coast. Sorry, I have no idea of what the plants on the woman and cat are. maybe Michelle can figure that out on her next visit. Posted: 2:25 pm on August 10th

Sheila, your garden tour starts Sat, 8/18? How can I purchase a ticket/get directions? Looking forward to touring your gardens and meeting you in person! Posted: 10:57 am on August 10th
Parb writes: I, too, would like to know what the plant is that is used on the woman. I love the way they have trimmed it to look like she is wearing a shawl draped around her shoulders. And adding the other hand with kitty treats is also very clever and natural. Posted: 9:49 am on August 10th

Fantastic creations, all wonderful. Those boulder beasts with their fountain blowholes are spectacular. And Jolly Green with Green Kitty look very happy. Amaze Me Lawn is great. Michelle, I'm so glad you remembered these, thank you.

Without a doubt, the "organic" lady and her companion pet are a sight to behold. Anyone have any idea what plant material she is draped in? Some kind of moss? Posted: 6:21 am on August 10th
