Flower or Weed?

I found this growing in my raised garden bed last year but ended up pulling it out in the Spring.  This year it is back and spreading!  Is this a weed or something I should keep?

TheDenverFan writes: Thank you so much! My instinct was to get rid of it, but I was feeling guilty in case it was something beneficial. Thanks to you I now know what it is and I can get rid of it without feeling bad! Thanks for taking the time to reply! Posted: 5:47 pm on May 7th
kctomato writes: Specifically that is Lamium purpureum - or purple deadnettle.

It looks very much like henbit. Technically Henbit is Lamium amplexicaule

kctomato writes: Some people call it "henbit" or "creeping charlie". Both of these common names are used for several different species.

This is a weed and should be removed ASAP before it goes to seed. Generally just cutting it off at the soil line takes care of it. If it is tilled and broken into pieces, those pieces will form new plants.

Ill look up the exact species. Posted: 3:03 pm on May 7th
