Previous owner of our home in Cincinnati (zone 6) told us the name of this tree - unfortunately we can't remember and it is driving us crazy. My husband thinks it is some sort of cherry. I think she said it was a Washington... something. The leaves appear first as green. Then it blooms with very fragrant blossoms in the spring. After the blooms disappear, the leaves turn purple for the remainder of the summer and small soft fruits appear. It also suckers quite a bit. Does anyone have any idea what this is, and any advice on appropriate pruning?
