Today's photos are from Michael Follose in Oregon. He says, "Our home and garden are located in Central Oregon, a high desert area with a short (about 90 day) growing season.  We live in a farming community which receives irrigation from snow melt in the Cascade Mountains.  I've been gardening here for about 35 years, but the property has been in my family for almost 75 years. All three of these photos are from our side garden.  The land here is very flat, so we built a 78-foot long retaining wall, brought in truckloads of fill and topsoil, terraced it with lichen-covered lava rocks from our property, and then finally finished the waterfall three years ago. Since then we've been filling in the area with perennials and small shrubs." Beautiful job, Michael! Thanks so much for sending in photos.

KarinCa writes: First of all, your yard looks lovely, so colorful and varied! Love the use of the grasses too (oat grass?). What I don't understand is how your Russian sage looks so lush with only a 90 day growing season and here (zone 9, California), I can't get mine to get bigger than a twig or two!!! I'm inspired to try it one last time next year. Posted: 2:49 pm on December 7th

Lisianne writes: Flat but getting irrigation from mountains? Guess I learned something about Oregon! I'm really enjoying all these photos from areas across the country. A nice diversion from my flat, rural, northwest Ohio scenery! The photos are lush!

Kris_at_Blithewold writes: So pretty! And now I know that my ninebark has been needing a Russian sage all along. Thanks! Posted: 7:04 am on December 7th
Bluevale writes: Your Waterfall looks great, set in to your stunning shrubs and flowers! I fell in love with Oregon during a 4 month work term at one of our divisions there. From the Cascades the coast and the high desert area Oregon is a majical place.
