A few weeks ago, on my final visit of the season to Longwood Gardens, I happened to catch this awesome pumpkin/gourd/squash display, and I thought it'd be the perfect Halloween post. After all, before you know it, the seed catalogs will start arriving, and you can start planning which varieties you want to grow next spring. Enjoy!

***I took photos, with tags, of almost every singe variety in this display. If anyone's interested in seeing more, let me know and I'll post more pics later today****

skevanston writes: I have seen many of these varieties but never knew their names. But even zooming in on the enlargement I had trouble making out the names of a few. :-( I am wondering if anyone knows if some of the decorative squash varieties are edible. What an educational and beautiful display. Some day I am going to make it out to see Longwood Gardens. Thanks for sharing it with us. Posted: 6:47 pm on October 31st
