I'd always heard that Chicago was a very green city (lots of gardens, not eco-friendly, though I'm sure it's got its eco-friendly attributes...). Michigan Avenue proves it! The median plantings are gorgeous, and even the local business get in on the gardening game. The plant combos were sophisticated and exciting. I could have photographed them for hours, had the traffic-dodging not gotten a bit scary.

I'm envious of their greenhouses... you rarely see a dead plant in any of the planters, I think the plant fairies remove and replace them in the middle of the night! bamboomary writes: Great photos, plants and gardens add so much to city life. Loved those chairs in the last photo, does anyone know who makes them? Posted: 10:06 am on September 27th
Joyce70 writes: As a native Northern Illinoisan (sp?) with a daughter still in Chicago, I'm glad to learn you appreciate the beauty of the city. The Michigan Ave and city plantings are different every few years with changes in annuals. Some of the sculpture and plantings are also great! Joyce Posted: 9:46 am on September 27th
