Is there a plant in your garden that you adore more than any other? One that you think deserves more attention and fawning? A plant that is in its seasonal prime? Frame it! That's what the folks at The Growing Place in Naperville, Illinois, did. Here, a threadleaf amsonia is in its total autumnal glory, so they highlighted it with a similarly-hued frame. The double pop of chartreuse can't help but catch your eye. The possibilities of this idea are endless. For example, if you've got a tiny alpine plant that is blooming its head off, try poking a tiny frame on metal stakes in the ground in front of it. Move your frames around as the highlights of your garden change. Experiment with different colors to bring out your plants' best attributes. Yes, it's time to head to the thrift store for a few cheap frames... Have fun!
