This stunning metal wall in Laura Crockett's garden in Hillsboro, Oregon, serves several purposes. It serves as a backdrop for dramatic plantings on the public side, creating strong color contrasts with the silvery plants against it. It also seves as a privacy screen for her exterior bedroom door, which, interestingly, is on the front of the house. The lit fountain set within the wall serves as a source of soothing sound and a bewitching nightlight when the sun goes down. Stay tuned for more photos from this garden tomorrow.

Our climate in Western North Carolina is much like Oregon's - a rainforest when we're not having a drought!
