This flower reseeds itself each year, and comes up randomely in my garden.  I transplanted  some seedlings and grew it in a pot this year, it is just now blooming.  (Ohio)

Plant_Paradise writes: This short biennial is silene armeria. We have grown it for years.
Hesperis is taller and it is not phlox (as Phlox is a perennial). It looks similiar to lychnis viscaria, but silene armeria has different leaf foliage. Posted: 8:23 pm on August 25th

tatwood writes: Looks like Lychnis viscaria. If the stems and flowers are sticky, that's probably what it is. Closely related to Silene. Posted: 7:56 am on August 15th
CalNative writes: Hesperis has four petals. This could be Phlox instead. Posted: 6:14 pm on August 2nd
Elfishone writes: This looks like Hesperis. Check your area because it is sometimes considered a noxious weed. Posted: 11:12 am on August 2nd
