When the owners of this property asked me to design a new garden around this majestic coral tree, I knew right away that warm colors would be needed to support the intensity of its shockingly red blossoms. Fortunately, coral aloe (Aloe striata), kicks in right on time. To set off the foreground (and cover the septic tank), we chose a neutral "meadow" of silvery foliage: snow in summer (Cerastium tomentosum), and blue fescue (Festuca ovina glauca).
