osh writes: Dory- thank you so much for your kind words. It has indeed been a labor of love-almost an acre, much of it on a hill. That's a lot of trips with 5 gallon buckets! I'll Check out Syney Eddison's garden-thanks for the tip. The formal section of globes and pyramids is just a "wall" separating the outdoor dining area from the rest of the garden-I found that this space needed a little more formality to set it apart from the other sections and to provides some structure and rhythm.. Everything else behind it is pretty naturalistic. Posted: 1:55 pm on July 25th
DoryH writes: Lovely, lovely, lovely! This is a labor of love and I know it must take so much effort to install and maintain such a large and varied garden. It reminds me of Sydney Eddison's garden in Newton, CT near where I live. You should check out her gardens on Fine Gardening as she has published a number of books and written numerous articles for them.
I have only one negative criticism and that is in the last photo. My personal preference is for a more natural looking border here rather than the formal, stylized arragngement of globe and pyramid shapes in a row that you have.
Other than that, I love your garden! Posted: 11:16 am on July 25th
