I bought this plant at a garage sale mainly for the pot it was in thinking the plant was dead. I snapped back a stem and found some green, so I let it go. After some watering through the winter the branches swelled. I thought it wasn't going to make it because as of early April it still had not started to leaf out and the rest of the garden was in full swing here in So. Calif. When it did leaf out the foliage was bright orange and red, beautiful. It turned to green later as you see in the picture. It has stayed the shape of a small bush and the stems have a red tint to them. I was thinking Japanese Maple but it is unlike any of the others I have. I'm just not sure. Thanks for your help!
