Everywhere you go at Innisfree, you find these wonderful chairs. They're generally called Wave Hill chairs (you'll find oodles of them at Wave Hill, too), but they were designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1918. The only thing marring this peaceful scene were the geese. It's hard to enjoy the view when you can't take your eyes off the ground for fear of stepping in something nasty!

arboretum writes: michelle, these chairs are from the original owners of innisfree? it's odd, when we visited 4 yrs ago, i didn't see them. Could be just my memory, but i can't help but think about the importance of their absence(or placement) given the very specifically designed Chinese landscape there, where particularly chosen/created rock benches and 'ruin' walls provide seating. I imagine it's a controversial topic among the trustees.

gardengal42 writes: I do agree with you..I live 1/2 block from a lake and the geese just make it impossible to walk near the lake. I still walk some what close but most of the time my head is down. We had an inner-tube in the center of the lake with a flashing light BUT it sank.. The light did keep them away. Any suggestions ? Posted: 10:01 am on July 12th
