Please help identify this weed.  It had started strangling my flowers.  Thanks!

Susiedancer writes: Field bind weed is, I think, ranked as the world's worst weed. The roots go down some huge distance and if you break it off, it forms more rootlets. You must be extremely diligent and continue to remove it endlessly. No herbicide will eradicate it. So, if you take it out every 3 weeks for 3 years it can starve to death. It will get better if you stay at, but don't let it go or it will take over completely. Check your yard for any small ones that might be around. Or put in concrete!! (Just kidding, but my neighbor did this.) Posted: 9:34 am on July 4th
Dolligarden writes: Thanks for responding and confirming. :) I removed a lot this morning. It is a shame it's so pesky because it is pretty. It looks like I can order some bindweeed mites from the state Department of Agriculture to feed on the wild morning glory; will do that very soon! Posted: 2:39 pm on July 1st
Seamew writes: Field bindweed usually has a white flower but you're just about right--it's relative of field bindweed, wild morning glory. Same botanical family, just different color flower--and same nasty habits! Posted: 12:49 pm on July 1st
