Virichic botanical tulips.  They came up for a great show in mid spring 2010.
Purple Sensation allium against an evergreen spurge, Euphorbia characias wulfenii. Mid spring 2011.
I was away for about two months while the garden mascot Henry was doing a fine job welcoming his friends with just the right amount of rain and sunshine.  Zone 8 is a pretty good place to be.
These tall City of Vancouver tulips are a late spring bloomer.  I planted them as part of a series of white only bulbs that start in early spring with, White Diana tulips then white daffodils then the Vancouvers and lastly, Mount Everest white alliums with one purple Giganteum and a red Forelock allium for a final dash of early summer colour.  Shortest to tallest.

This garden use to be a collection of very overgrown juniper shrubs.  When I was working on the Fraser river as a boomman in British Columbia, Canada I found some great pieces of driftwood to add as natural landscape ties; when working in landscape construction I also fell in love with some large homeless rocks.

The garden is planted with a modest collection of single perennial specimens and single shrub specimens. There are grass specimens and an ever growing collection of superviums and succulents amongst the rocks. There are many "micro zones" which dictate which plants grow where; every plant has it's place.  It's slopes and modest size make it a joy to work on all year round.
