Sydney Eddisons beloved Jack Russell terrier, Phoebe, is the queen of her Newtown, Connecticut, garden. She can be found racing around the lawn and climbing trees on any given day, periodically zonking out in her bed by the back door, overlooking the garden, to recharge her batteries.

Eve Thyrum says that her cat is notoriously camera-shy. Luckily, it allowed me to snap a few shots when I visited Eves garden in Wilmington, Delaware, a couple of years ago. As you can see, I was barely tolerated...

Julia Zarcone says that her cat doesnt just look good, shes their major method of pest removal. She keeps the rodents under control in Julias Los Altos Hills, California, garden.

There were too many great pets to choose from yesterday, so I'm continuing the theme today! Have fun meeting some of the cutest garden helpers around...

A couple of years ago, FG spoinsored a "Pets in the Garden" photo contest online. Check out the blog post where we announced the winners and runners-up. They're CUTE!

LAgardener writes: While I admire all owners of people shown, I must say that the person I admire most is Sydney Eddison, who is owned by a Jack Russell. No wonder Ms. E's garden grows so lavishly! A Jack Russell has her own mind, and she will teach the human beings with whom she chooses to associate the merit to be found in humility, in learning to adapt human aspirations and plans to the situation at hand. A good gardener must learn to be guided by land and plants, and that takes submission. Who better to teach that than a Jack Russell? Posted: 1:20 pm on June 29th
SunnyDispo writes: I love these photos! There is no better companion in the garden than a pet. My neighbor's dog used to come over and hang out with me when I worked in my garden. He'd see me, lumber over, and plop down and just watch for hours. He was always good company and especially good at stick removal! I didn't realize how much I liked having him there until he passed away. Posted: 7:44 am on June 29th
