Crocus tommasinianus under the red stems of Cornus alba Elegantissima
The long view of this scene in our Woodland Garden...
The sprightly day view of our wonderfully naturalized crocuses... adding color to the still brown backdrop of the lilac bush.
These crocuses brought the pollinators from all around.

Crocus tommasinianus under the red stems of Cornus alba 'Elegantissima'

I had just pulled in to the garage, home from my trip to the grocery store, and the gloomy, wet light was too perfect to pass up... like tiny purple brush strokes... sheets of Crocus tommasinianus.  They are a great combination with the red wintery stems of the dogwood bush, Cornus alba 'Elegantissima'.

During the day, these crocuses were all a buzz with bees coming to collect their first precious pollen of the year.
