Can anyone identify this very fasting growing stalk? If you cut it down, it grows back very fast. I believe its roots spread and make new plants nearby. It has reach around 5 ft., but tends to droop over and seems to attract Japanese beetles.

lilbo writes: Ibcat is right , gthis is Japanese Knotweed, Polygonum Cuspidatum. Originally brought over from asia as an ornamental plant used in gardens. This is a highly invasive herbaceous, semi-woody perennial. It will grow to the height of 3 metres. Posted: 3:53 pm on May 29th
lbcat writes: Does it arch over as it grows, with big leaves? Could be Japanese Knotweed, if so it's highly invasive and good luck getting rid of it. Posted: 12:43 pm on May 15th

lilnukee writes: What you have there is running bamboo. It is VERY hard to get rid of and VERY fast growing. I have some in my garden and I have the hardest time keeping it where it is supposed to be. It spreads through the root system, hence the name. Good luck. There should be some advice online on how to get rid of it. Posted: 6:30 pm on April 11th
