What is this plant?

This plant is growing very well in our new backyard, but I don't know what it is. It loves the shade and moist soil. The roots are connected under the soil between each "clump" of leaves. It's stems are the same green color.

I don't want to pull it all out if it's something I'm going to love later. I would keep it because it is growing so well. But, the backyard is small and these large plants are using up valuable real estate!

So- any ideas on what this leafy thing is?
