Ah, the passionflower...

What's more freakish and fabulous than a passionflower bloom (Passiflora spp. and cvs., USDA Hardiness Zones 6-11)? They come in a bizillion colors and sizes, bloom all summer, and if you live in a warm enough climate, might even give you something to eat! Here's a particularly stunning specimen in the conservatory at Wave Hill in the Bronx, New York. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a tag, but if you feel a sudden urge to own a passionflower, check out the selection over at Logee's.

A truly fantastic sculpture, of a truly fantastic flower. Posted: 11:34 am on December 6th
I looked up this flower on www.zone9tropicals.com and it appears to be an lalata Ruby Glow.

I also use Margarita sweet potato vine as unifying groundcover in several beds across the front yard. Yellow Sulphurs lay their eggs/feed on it then feast on the Porterweed, too. Posted: 1:58 pm on December 3rd
