Mixing succulents and herbaceous perennials

Succulents are all the rage these days, but most often we see them clustered togther in pots or arranged in vignettes with each other. But it's worth trying to combine them wth more traditional perennials, as well, as you can see in this combo created by Tom Nelson and Randy Bolin for their garden in Oakland, California. This pairing includes an aeonium (Aeonium arboreum cv., USDA Hardiness Zones 9-11) and a 'Ravenswing' cow parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris 'Ravenswing', Zones 7-10).
