A couple of weeks ago, I had the great pleasure of touring Bedrock Gardens in Lee, New Hampshire, with one of its creators, Jill Nooney. Jill's an amazing sculptor and garden designer. Among the many thrills to be had in her garden were her rock creations. They made me want to run right home and start scouring the woods for raw materials!

Welcome to the Fine Gardening GARDEN PHOTO OF THE DAY blog! Every weekday we post a new photo of a great garden, a spectacular plant, a stunning plant combination, or any number of other subjects. Think of it as your morning jolt of green.

Sign up to get new posts delivered to your inbox each morning so you'll always remember to take a look, or subscribe to our RSS feed. We look forward to sharing our garden travels with you.

If you think you have a photo that we should share on the Garden Photo of the day, email us. Send hi-res images to mgervais@taunton.com with GPOD in the subject line. We'll only respond if we plan to use your photo.

Vespasia writes: Lovely setting for these interesting sculptures. Credit should be given to the origins of this art form. These are Inukshuks created by the Inuit and other people of the Arctic region of North America. They are especially common in British Columbia and I am sure many of you remember that an Inukshuk was the symbol of the 2010 Olympic Games held in Vancouver this year. they are beautiful and much admired and one can now see them all over the US and Canada. Ordinary people seem drawn to build them wherever stones are available, they are very powerful symbols it seems. If you are interested in learning more there is lots of information on line.
