A rusty privacy screen inspires a planting

Barbara Weirich's husband is a metal fabricator, and he created this privacy screen for her garden in Benton Harbor, Michigan. It's at the end of a long, narrow alleyway in her garden, and camouflages a utility pole in the background. She reinforced its linear nature with spiky horsetails, and echoed its deep, rusty color with nearby ornamental grasses and towering burgundy castor beans.
