Today's photo is from Rebecca and Emily Sweet in Los Altos, California. Rebecca says: "While helping me get ready for a huge garden party last week, Emily, my 14-year-old daughter, was side-tracked by the beauty of my potted 'Blumex' parrot tulips and just HAD to take some photos.  While doing so, one of the tulips exploded, dropping all of its petals to the ground.  Instead of picking them up and throwing them away, she arranged them into a flower shape on my chair cushion, where they remained for 2 days!  Such a beautiful, although temporary, work of art!  I'm so thankful she thought to take pictures of them for me while I was busy rushing around..." Thanks for sending in these great photos, Rebecca and Emily!

Welcome to the Fine Gardening Garden Photo of the Day blog! Every weekday we post a new photo of a great garden, a spectacular plant, a stunning plant combination, or any number of other subjects. Think of it as your morning jolt of green.

Sign up to get new posts delivered to your inbox each morning, so you'll always remember to take a look. We look forward to sharing our garden travels with you.

If you think you have a photo that we should share on the Garden Photo of the day, email us. Send hi-res images to mgervais@taunton.com with GPOD in the subject line. We'll only respond if we plan to use your photo.

I love parrot tulips - the ruffle along with the tremendous variety of colours and shades make them one of the most interesting tulips. I have planted a number in my garden (in Calgary, Alberta Canada) although they have only just broken the surface. Posted: 8:40 am on April 1st
