This metal sculpture serves two purposes. It screens a view of the neighbor's house, but it also makes a stunning focal point that is emphasized by a matching urn in the foreground. This thoughtful vignette adds personality and visual texture in a side-yard passageway leading to a back-yard retreat.

Welcome to the Fine Gardening Garden Photo of the Day blog! Every weekday we post a new photo of a great garden, a spectacular plant, a stunning plant combination, or any number of other subjects. Think of it as your morning jolt of green.

Sign up to get new posts delivered to your inbox each morning, so you'll always remember to take a look. We look forward to sharing our garden travels with you.

If you think you have a photo that we should share on the Garden Photo of the Day, email us. Send hi-res images to mgervais@taunton.com with GPOD in the subject line. We'll only respond if we plan to use your photo.

stanhorst writes: Very nice. I love it when form and functionality meet in the same project. This sculpture and matching urn do just that, nestled in the surrounding plantings. In addition, the smooth stones piled next to the urn give a nice imagery of water, without having to maintain a water garden.
