The leaves of sweetgums and the Heuchera americana 'Dale's Strain' make a great contrast to the rocks in our dry shade garden at Hoffman Nursery. This garden is a real testing ground for us. Although we're primarily looking at ornamental grasses, we mix in perennials that can handle a challenge. Judith Tyler of Pine Knot Farms recommended 'Dale's Strain' as one of the best Heuchera for the south. I agree.
