I know that not everyone in the world is as excited about houseplants as I am. In fact, I'm guessing that there are many people who actually DISLIKE them. But I think everyone can agree on the fact that it's incredibly awesome that many houseplants can actually clean indoor air by filtering out some toxic gasses. Now, designer Mathieu Lehanneur and Harvard professor David Edwards have designed a product that takes the natural filtration process of a houseplant and kicked it up a notch.

ANDREA is an air purifier based on a fan, a houseplant, and a closed container. In essence, the fan circulates more air to the plant's roots and leaves than it would be exposed to if it was just sitting in a room. This allows the plant to clean more air in less time. A vent in the container then allows the clean air to be sent out into your home. Chiots_Run writes: This is a great idea. I have lots of houseplants around to clean the air. This would be perfect for a college dorm room. If it had a grow light in it I would get a few for dark rooms in my home that can't support a plant. Posted: 2:28 pm on November 22nd
