I love the 3 season juxtaposition in this shot: the still-green wisteria leaves hanging on to summer, the red and yellow maple leaves already fallen, and the healthy stash of firewood, ready to warm us through the winter.
The leaves of my Norway and Japanese maples commingle on the grass, creating a kaleidoscopic color progression of yellow, green and red.
My favorite spot to sit and watch the seasons change.

Despite the brilliant colors of my fall backyard, the season still strikes me with a sense of sadness as the active gardening season winds down. I'll look back at these images frequently to remind myself of the fleeting moments of beauty.
