Queen of Hearts

Photo: JoAnne Hildebrand

My "Queen of Hearts" (from "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland") has kept a resolute eye over my garden's state of affairs for nearly 21 years. She's in a semi-shaded border where she presides over daylilies, sweet woodruff, bishop's weed, coneflowers, purple perilla and a beautiful white shrub rose. Most years I also surround her with a few annuals for color and variety.
