Toothpick seed markers

When sowing seeds directly into soil, I used to have trouble telling good seedlings from weeds. Now when I sow seeds, I mark each seed with a toothpick stuck into the soil immediately next to it. The toothpicks are inconspicuous from a standing height, but I can spot them easily when I stoop to pull weeds.
