These plastic caps beat getting struck by hidden stakes.

I like to use thin bamboo stakes to support wispy plant stems. Sometimes, these stakes are hard to see among the foliage, and leaning into them can prove dangerous, as I found out after gouging my face several times. To make these stakes safer to use, I now top the sharp ends with brightly colored safety caps (plastic wire nuts that fit large gauges of electrical wire), which sit snugly on the tips of the stakes. I can now poke around in the garden without worrying about being poked in the eye with a sharp stick.
