Pallets make good compost bins

You can make a sturdy, easy-to-assemble compost bin from discarded pallets (the wooden platforms that allow forklifts to move packages). Stand four pallets on end and hold them together with tie wraps or wire, and your bin is ready for use. The bin is just as easy to disassemble and move. Damaged pallets are often free for the taking from lumberyards. Pallets aren’t beautiful, but they’re easy to paint if you want to improve their appearance.
