Make gardening pants last

Make gardening pants last by reinforcing the knees with caulk.

To make my favorite gardening jeans last longer, I caulked the knees. I laid the jeans out flat on a table, applied a large dollop of clear silicone caulk to each knee, and spread the caulk out with a plastic putty knife, covering a large rectangular section on each leg. My reinforced jeans lasted 19 years in the nursery business. When I finally did throw them away, everything had worn out but the knees.
