The genus Humulus contains two species of herbaceous climbing perennials with attractive foliage and flowers and interesting fruit (hops). Grow as a groundcover, as screening, or on a trellis or arbor.
Noteworthy characteristics:  Very fast growing. Attractive foliage. H. lupulus produces hops used to flavor beer.
Care:  Grow in well-drained, fertile, moist soil.
Propagation: 

Take stem cuttings in late summer or divide plants when they are dormant.

Problems: 

Mildew.
