These annual and perennial grasses in about 250 species have narrow leaves and dense or open clusters of small flowers in summer and fall. Use them in a border or rock garden, as specimens, and for cut and dried flowers.

CareGrow in full sun to light shade and well-drained, preferably sandy, soil in a warm location. Some will tolerate heavy clay soil. Cut back foliage in late winter or early spring.
