Fargesia are clump-forming bamboo grown for their specimen-quality, evergreen foliage. The dense, billowy forms are 6 to 15 feet tall and are suitable for screening. The roughly 4 species in this genus hail from the damp woods of Central China and  the northeastern Himalayas. Grow these plants as specimens, as hedging or screening, or in a large container.
Noteworthy characteristics:  Tall, evergreen foliage.
Care:  Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Prefers shade from afternoon sun.
Propagation: 

Divide in spring or fall. Take rhizome cuttings in spring.

Problems: 

Slugs.
